We started premiumbevda.com for one reason: most drinks writing tells you a bottle is “smooth” and leaves it there. We wanted a place that says what a bottle actually tastes like, what it costs, and whether it is worth your money.
What we do
We publish tasting notes, buying guides, cocktail recipes and long-form stories about the people and places behind the bottle. Every review starts in the glass — we taste before we write, and we write what we tasted. If a well-known label underdelivers, we say so. If a supermarket bottle punches above its price, we say that too.
How we taste
Consistency is what makes a note useful, so we hold the method steady:
- Glassware. Copita or tulip for spirits, a standard tasting glass for wine, appropriate stemware for beer styles.
- Temperature. Spirits at room temperature, then again with a few drops of water. Whites and sparkling chilled; reds slightly below room temperature.
- Blind where it matters. Comparative line-ups and head-to-heads are tasted blind to keep the label out of the verdict.
- Twice, on separate days. A bottle gets a second sitting before we publish a score.
- Context. Every note is judged against price and category — a good £30 bottle and a good £300 bottle are both good.
Independence and disclosure
We buy most of what we review. When a sample is sent to us, the review says so in the first paragraph. Sending a sample buys a tasting and nothing else — never a score, a placement or a publication date. We do not sell reviews, sponsored rankings or “best of” placements.
